Monesmapa
An interactive archive for exploring more than 1,100 documentaries by place and subject.
What it is
Monesmapa is an independent cultural archive for exploring the documentaries of Eugenio Monesma. It organizes more than 1,100 films about traditional crafts, customs and popular culture by subject and place.
Why it exists
The official YouTube channel holds decades of documentary work, but a chronological video feed is not an easy way to discover everything connected to a craft, tradition or region. Monesmapa adds paths through that material without taking it away from its original source.
What I built
I designed and built the archive, including its map, subject and territory indexes, search, documentary pages and curated thematic notebooks. The product organizes public metadata; the videos remain hosted by and link to Eugenio Monesma's official YouTube channel.
What was difficult
A large cultural collection needs more than a search box. Places, subjects and related films have to be structured consistently enough to support exploration while preserving the language, context and source of the original material.
Current result
The live archive offers several ways to explore more than 1,100 documentaries: by map, territory, subject, search and curated collection. It is a private, independent project and is not presented as an official archive.
